Medical records & chronology

A chronology where every line shows its page.

Upload the records. Meruit reads them page by page and suggests entries for the chronology: date, provider, what happened and what was billed. Each one points to the page and the exact line it came from, and your team approves every entry. AI suggestions come with Growing Practice and Large Firms; on the free Essentials plan you build the chronology by hand.

Upload

Drop in the PDFs. Meruit reads every page.

Upload records to the matter as they arrive from each provider. Meruit reads the text page by page, so it can point to exactly where each fact came from.

  • PDF records uploaded straight to the matter
  • Read page by page, so citations are to a page, not a file
  • Scanned, image-only pages need text recognition, which is coming soon

Suggested entries

AI suggests. A quote proves it. Your team approves.

For each visit, Meruit suggests an entry with the date, provider, what happened and the billed amount. Every entry carries the page number and a quoted line from the record, and Meruit checks the quote really appears on that page before showing it to you.

  • Date, provider, what happened and billed amount
  • A page citation and a quoted line on every entry
  • Quotes checked against the page before you see them
  • Approve, edit or reject each entry

Specials

Medical specials that add themselves up.

As your team approves entries, Meruit totals the billed amounts. When it's time for the demand, the number is already there, and every dollar traces back to a page.

How it works

From a stack of PDFs to an approved chronology.

  1. Upload

Add the PDF records to the matter.

  2. Meruit reads

The text is read page by page.

  3. AI suggests

Entries with a page and a quote, each quote checked against its page.

  4. Your team approves

Approve, edit or reject each entry. Specials total themselves.

Questions

Which plans include AI chronology suggestions?

Growing Practice ($249 a month for the firm) and Large Firms ($800 a month). On Essentials, which is free, you can upload records (up to 200 record pages a month) and add chronology entries by hand.

What kind of records can I upload?

PDF files with a text layer, which is what most electronic health record systems and records vendors produce. Meruit reads the text page by page.

What about scanned pages?

Pages that are only an image (a scan or a fax with no text layer) need text recognition before Meruit can read them. That's coming soon. Until then, image-only pages won't produce chronology suggestions, so review those pages by hand.

How do I know the AI didn't make something up?

Every suggested entry is tied to a page and a quoted line from that page. Before showing it, Meruit checks that the quote really appears on that page. And nothing goes into the chronology until someone on your team approves it.

Are medical records safe in Meruit?

Records are encrypted, kept separate from every other firm's data, and only visible to people who can see the matter. We'll sign a HIPAA business associate agreement with your firm before you upload real medical records.

Does the specials total include unapproved entries?

No. The medical specials total adds up the billed amounts on approved entries only, so the number you put in a demand is one your team has checked.
