Demand letters

Your demand letter, drafted from the file.

Start from your firm's own template, already filled with the facts of the case, the approved chronology and the medical specials. On paid plans, ask for an AI first draft if you want one. Edit it, and a lawyer's approval locks it.

Your template

Your firm's voice, not a generic one.

Upload the demand template you already use. Meruit fills in the matter's facts, the approved chronology and the specials total, so the first version is already in your format.

  • Client, incident, parties, insurer and claim number filled in
  • Approved chronology entries, with their page citations
  • Medical specials total from approved entries

Optional AI first draft

A first draft from the record, if you want one.

Ask Meruit to draft the narrative sections from the matter and the approved chronology. It works only from what's in the file, and you edit every word before anything is approved.

  • Drafted from the matter and the approved chronology only
  • Fully editable
  • Optional, every time

Approval

Approved, locked and on the record.

When a lawyer approves the letter, Meruit locks it and stamps it with their name and the time. Download it as a Word document and send it the way you always do.

  • Only a lawyer can approve
  • Approval locks the letter with name and time
  • Download as Word (.docx)

Questions

Which plans include the AI first draft?

Growing Practice and Large Firms. Every plan, including the free Essentials plan, fills your template with the case facts, approved chronology and specials, with lawyer approval and Word download.

Do I have to use the AI draft?

No. You can start from your template filled with the matter's facts and write the rest yourself. The AI first draft is optional, and everything in it is yours to edit.

What goes into the letter automatically?

Facts from the matter (client, incident, parties, insurer and claim number), the approved chronology and the medical specials total. Unapproved chronology entries are left out.

What happens when a lawyer approves it?

The letter is locked, stamped with the lawyer's name and the time, and recorded in the matter's history. Once locked, nobody can edit it, so what was approved is what goes out. If it needs changing, a lawyer reopens it (which is recorded) and it must be approved again.

Does Meruit send the letter?

No. You download the approved letter as a Word document and send it the way you do today. Nothing leaves your office without you.
