In a small personal injury firm, the same facts get typed again and again: into the intake notes, the case
file, the calendar, the chronology and the demand letter. Records arrive by the hundred pages. Deadlines live in
someone's head. Most of that work is necessary, and very little of it needs a lawyer.
Small firms do most of the legal work most people ever need, often with less help than they deserve. Their
clients notice the difference between a firm that calls back the same day with the answer and one that has to
go looking for the file. We think good software should make every small firm the first kind.
AI can take a real share of that first pass, but only if lawyers can trust what it produces. So we built Meruit
around two ideas: every fact the AI suggests shows where it came from, and nothing that matters happens without
a person approving it.
We're starting with personal injury, where the hours hurt most, and building with a small group of design-partner
firms who tell us when we're wrong. Today Meruit covers intake and conflict checks, matters, deadlines, medical
records and demand letters. Client-facing tools, like a portal with plain-English updates, are on our roadmap.
